Hi! My name is Nikki

There was a time when I ate mostly from my head. Always counting macros, avoiding “bad” foods, chasing health through rules.  The result? I completely disconnected from my body. Even while eating all the right things, I still suffered from awful stomach pains and eating issues.

The turning point? I stopped dieting. Completely. I gave myself permission to eat freely and enjoy food without overthinking. Slowly, I started lighting up at dinner tables again

That journey made me ask myself: how can I help others reconnect with food? That question led to Dertien: my own philosophy born from my experiences and science.

The main idea is to reset the way you look at food and pay attention to what seems to be working for you with ease and joy.

Because food is only truly healthy when it is personal. Entirely yours.

FAQ

Why 'Dertien'?

The name of my business comes from two simple things: I was born on the 13th, and in numerology, 13 carries meaning.

It represents motivation, confidence, and hard work. A symbol of new beginnings, resilience, and personal growth.

To me, Dertien is about rising after setbacks, moving forward with optimism and strength. It’s my reminder to embrace change, let go of old patterns, and trust that growth begins the moment we dare.

What is The Honest Eating Method?

The Honest Eating Method is holistic nutrition coaching for women. It's the practical side of hitting reset on your relationship with food.

Rather than telling you exactly what to eat, The Honest Eating Method focuses on helping you understand food better.

It’s not a diet. There are no foods I’m going to tell you are off limits. No rules dressed up as healthy and no pretending that real life doesn’t exist.

You’ll learn the real story behind food: what nourishes you, what doesn’t, and why. Just clear, honest knowledge so you can choose with confidence instead of doubt.

When you know what you’re eating, food stops feeling threatening and it becomes something you can trust again.

Where do the recipes come from?

Short answer: my own kitchen.

Long version of the story? I’m a nutritionist and I create, share and cook from both knowledge and personal experience. I make my own recipes and I take inspiration from the Italian cuisine.

For me, food is something honest and pure. A here-and-now moment. Entirely yours. Because nobody tastes what you taste.

So don’t treat my recipes (or anyone else’s) as strict rules. Think of them as gentle directions, little suggestions along the way. Play with food. Dance in your kitchen. Trust your senses.

And if it doesn’t turn out perfect? Congratulations, you’ve just cooked like a human being.

Whenever I use an existing recipe, I make sure to acknowledge the original and credit the person behind it.

Why is your tableware worth a seat at my table?

Because it’s never just tableware.

Every piece in my collection has a story. Some are vintage, carrying traces of long family gatherings. Others are handmade, sometimes even by me. And yes, occasionally I add a small batch of new items, but never mass-produced or made for fast consumption.

This is what happens when you pay attention to your table setting:
✦ You slow down and eat with more awareness
✦ You feel calmer, lighter, more in tune
✦ Your senses wake up. All of them.
✦ You notice earlier when you’re full. No rush, no overeating
✦ You feel more connected to what’s around you

Tableware does more than just look pretty, it can shape your mood, your stress levels, even your happiness.

Why? Simply put: because we’re built that way. Our senses are always talking to us. Colors, textures, sounds, even smells, they quietly steer how we feel.

So yes, my tableware is worth a seat at your table. Because it brings presence, story and a little honesty to every meal.
