Welcome to the greatest food romance of my life! 

 

My name is Nikki and I’m a nutritionist and food content writer. I coach clients and share food stories, recipes, and reflections from a city girl living in the Italian countryside. 

Over the past few years, I’ve made some bold decisions. After fifteen years in marketing, I followed my heart toward nutrition in 2021. Then, in 2025, I took another leap: moving to Italy for a slower, more intentional life. I chose to surrender to the unknown.

Most of the people I work with have one thing in common: they look for permission to eat something outside themselves. Boy, do I know that place well.

 

 

For a long time, I was obsessed with food. Counting macros, avoiding “bad” foods an chasing health through rules. The result? I completely disconnected from my body and intuition. I thought I was healthy. But even while eating all the right things, I still had weekly stomach pains and weight problems.

Trying to love your body when nothing seems to work can feel impossible. I felt stuck in limbo for years, powerless to change how I felt about eating, overwhelmed by thoughts about food and what it meant to live a healthy lifestyle.

When I became a nutritionist in 2021, something in me woke up. Looking back, I can see that what truly changed my relationship with food wasn’t a single textbook or lecture from one of my professors. It was the daily practices I began to weave into my meals and the perspectives I gathered through coaching my clients. 

 

Eating well or living a healthy lifestyle isn’t about following rules or waiting for results to magically appear. It’s about creating moments of freedom, self-care, and most of all: joy.

 

That’s why I started Dertien: a place for honest products, real food and genuine feelings. Because food is only truly healthy when it feels honest and personal. Entirely yours.

The Honest Kitchen is where I share my experiences around food. It’s a place for  honest conversations about food, ingredients and recipes. I’ll introduce you to all kinds of products that truly deserve a spot in your kitchen. Show you their quirks and charms, and explain the whys behind them. 

I cook from scratch. That means unprocessed, home-cooked and from farm to table. With Italian cuisine as my muse, I simplify the art of cooking and bring honest, nourishing food to your table.

 

1:1 Nutrition guidance

Food can be both simple and soulful. It’s a way to take care of yourself rather than just another item on your to-do list. The Honest Eating Method is my 5-week program to rewrite your relationship with food and cook with calm and joy.

It’s not a diet. There are no rules. It’s a personal method to help you eat with ease, live with presence, and find joy in your meals.

 

Vintage Tableware 

The Honest Table is my way of bringing slow living to your table. Tableware does more than just look pretty, it can shape your mood, your stress levels, even your happiness.
